Welcome to the New Jersey Bankruptcy Legal Information Center, sponsored by William S. Wolfson,  L.L.C., a New Jersey law firm that concentrates on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy law.

The new BANKRUPTCY LAW became effective October 17, 2005. You may still qualify for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, without having to qualify under the new Income Means Test,  if you earn under $53,250 (single) or $82,00 for a family of four in New Jersey.

See Highlights of the New Bankruptcy Reform Act.

A MESSAGE FROM BILL WOLFSON ABOUT RECOVERING YOUR FINANCIAL HEALTH:

MAKE THE BILL COLLECTOR CALLS STOP

Federal laws arm consumers with many weapons to recover their personal financial well being. These run the gamut from the ‘fresh start’ provisions of the Bankruptcy Code, saving homes from foreclosure to protecting individuals from unscrupulous and intentional practices of some debt collectors under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Making the dunning phone calls at home or at work stop is only one of these valuable tools. Certainly, just debts should be paid where and when possible. Relief from overpowering, overwhelming debt is not just ‘social policy’. It is the law of the land.

LEARN HOW TO GET BACK ON YOUR FEET

I designed this site to provide helpful information for any one who may have problems paying bills. It is no substitute for getting legal advice from an experienced lawyer who practices debtor-creditor and bankruptcy law in your state. Because laws vary from state to state you should always select a lawyer who knows the laws in your state. I practice law only in New Jersey. If you live in New Jersey I invite you to contact me if you need my help by email or telephone at (908) 782 9333.

Please do not consider this site's content as providing legal advice. We can not create an attorney client relationship between you and I until we meet and discuss your personal situation. Then you and I will need to agree to work together. Until all of this occurs, I can not agree to represent you as your lawyer.

TAKE BACK CONTROL OF YOUR FUTURE

I have been practicing bankruptcy, debtor-creditor and collection law for over 25 years here in New Jersey. If you want to know more about me, and my approach to practicing bankruptcy law click here.

Although I handle many different types of cases and problems for others, I have found that financial problems are deeply troubling especially when you do not know where to turn for good, honest legal advice. Don't let your inability to pay your past debts keep you from the life you want.

USE THIS SITE AS A RESOURCE TO LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ABOUT HOW THE LAW PROTECTS YOU, YOUR HOME, CAR AND OTHER PROPERTY.

I do not want to see anyone lose a home or car or see their wages garnished because they can't get the right help. If you have questions please see if the tabs to the left are helpful to you. If not, or if you would like to speak to me after reading the information on this site please call or email me I do not charge for first consultations.

We can represent only New Jersey residents. Our practice is state-wide within New Jersey. We can handle your case no matter where you live in New Jersey as our practice is powered by Internet technology, but you still have to come to our office for your first appointment. After your first appointment, and you become a client of the firm, we can manage the flow of information between you and our law firm through our secure web site.

One of our goals is to use the Internet to deliver legal services to our clients in order to support fast, convenient, and effective communications. We hope that you find this bankruptcy resource center useful and take the time to explore the Law Guide and use the other tools that you will find here.

Make an appointment on-line for a free consultation at our offices and to learn about our competitive rates for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy or call our office at (908) 782 9333 to make an appointment. There is no charge for this first consultation.
